As you have drunk on My holy mountain,
so all the nations will drink continually.
They will drink and gulp down
and be as though they had never been.
I may need to reevaluate this, but my initial direction with this verse was to say that God doesn't treat everyone the same...so that begs the question how do you get on His good side? (The answer, of course, is faith in Jesus.)
1. God punished Israel/Judah for restoration, but the opposing nations for destruction.
2. Another example of this kind of distinction is found in Exodus 8 and 9.
3. God has chosen to take a people unto Himself, and He does treat them differently.
A. They are given the law to learn God's character.
B. They are given prophets to learn God's plan.
C. They are given mercy after judgment.
4. Now God is building a spiritual kingdom.
A. The people of God are not found in one nation.
B. You can become one of God's people through Christ.

One way to lead into this may be to wrestle with the issue of fairness. Is God fair? What IS fair?

ReplyDeleteI think the Scripture reading was perhaps too long? Maybe I won't do the Amplified version...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed delivering the teaching; it was one that just seemed to flow...I hope the congregation enjoyed listening to it!
I loved the music!
I waited too long and I completely forgot everything that happened last week.
